Known to millions as a regular on Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, The News Quiz and countless BBC Radio 4 appearances, Angela swapped a career in health and social care for stand-up comedy in 2010. Fifteen years later, she remains one of the country's most loved comedians and is returning to support a cause close to her heart.

The special fundraising comedy night, starting at 8pm, will bring together local people, NHS staff and supporters from across Sussex for an evening of laughter with purpose.

Funds raised will support patients and staff across University Hospitals Sussex, helping provide projects, equipment, wellbeing initiatives and enhancements that go beyond what NHS funding alone can cover.

At a time when many families have experienced the care, compassion and dedication of NHS teams firsthand, organisers hope the event will provide an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate local healthcare workers and make a tangible difference for patients.

A spokesperson for My Charity, the dedicated charity for University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, said: "Every day, NHS staff go above and beyond to care for people across Sussex. The funds raised through events like this help us provide additional support that can make a real difference to patients during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. We're incredibly grateful to Angela Barnes and everyone involved for helping us turn laughter into better care."

Angela will be joined by two outstanding support acts. Anthony Ayton, described by Reginald D Hunter as a comedian who brings a unique and hilarious perspective to British stand-up, and Brighton favourite Joe Foster, winner of the Foster's South Coast Comedian of the Year award, whose sharp wit has earned praise from audiences and critics alike.

The evening will be compered by popular broadcaster Guy Lloyd.

Angela Barnes was crowned winner of the BBC New Comedy Award in 2011 and has since become a familiar face on television and radio. Praised by Sarah Millican as "brilliantly funny" and described by The Guardian as "a gloriously down-to-earth, straight talking and extremely funny comic", she is expected to draw a strong crowd for this one-night-only Sussex fundraiser.

Organisers are encouraging local residents, business supporters and NHS colleagues to attend, with every ticket sold helping to support patients and healthcare services across the region.

Comedy fans can enjoy a night of top-class entertainment while helping make a lasting difference to the lives of people receiving care in Sussex hospitals.
