John Lee writes. Hello everyone! As Chair of Governors at Cross In Hand School, I’m delighted to share that we’re looking for an enthusiastic new governor to join our team and help shape the future of our wonderful school community! What does a governor do? As governors, we work alongside the Headteacher and staff to set the school’s vision, offer support and challenge where needed, and make sure every child gets the very best education and opportunities possible. We act as a “critical friend” to the school: people who care, ask great questions, and help the school keep getting even better. Who are we looking for? You don’t need to be an education expert! We're looking for someone who is: Passionate about children’s learning and wellbeing.  A good listener and team player. Curious, open-minded and happy to ask questions.  Committed, reliable and keen to learn. Able to bring their own life and work experience to the table. Skills in areas like finance, HR, business, safeguarding or community work would be a real bonus, but most importantly, we want someone who genuinely cares about our school. How much time does it take? Less than you might think! Most of our governors give a few hours a month, attending meetings each term and visiting the school occasionally to see the fantastic work happening first-hand. Full training and support are provided, and I and the rest of the board will be here to help you settle in. Why get involved? Speaking from my own experience, being a governor is incredibly rewarding.  You’ll make a real difference to the lives of local children, be part of a friendly and supportive team, develop new skills, and give something meaningful back to our community. It’s truly one of the most fulfilling roles I’ve taken on. Interested? We’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch with the school office at: [email protected] mailto: [email protected] or email me directly at: [email protected] mail to:[email protected] to find out more or have an informal chat.  John Lee, Chair of Governors, Cross In Hand School

HEATHFIELD DISABLED PARKING BAYS

A little reminder to please respect the disabled parking bays. These spaces are there for people who genuinely need them. Please think about the impact of using one when you’re not entitled to do so. I’d love to say that it’s the impact of the new gym but every vehicle I’ve seen park there illegally for the last month has been visiting the post office. A little consideration goes a long way. Please leave these spaces for those who need them.
