Horsham Town Council attends Rotary Funday Sunday event in Horsham Park

Horsham Town Council’s Chair, Cllr Chris Franke, and several town councillors attended the Horsham Rotary Funday Sunday in Horsham Park on Sunday 5 July, where they met with residents and discussed a range of issues affecting the town.

The popular community event opened shortly after the popular Horsham Children’s Parade arrived in the park. Throughout the day, councillors spoke with residents about a variety of topics, with traffic and speeding concerns among the most frequently raised issues. Discussions also focused on the future of community events, including Horsham Friday Lates and Rotary Funday Sunday, as well as the current boundaries of Horsham Town Council.

Residents were invited to share their ideas and suggestions for future Town Council projects and priorities by posting them on a display board. Meanwhile, younger residents were able to take home a quiz and given colouring sheets featuring some of Horsham’s best-known landmarks.

Chair of Horsham Town Council, Cllr Chris Franke, said:  “It was a pleasure to speak with so many residents and hear their thoughts on the issues that matter most to them. Events such as Rotary Funday Sunday provide a valuable opportunity for councillors to listen directly to residents, gather ideas and better understand local priorities.

“We had a number of positive and constructive conversations throughout the day, covering everything from traffic and road safety to the future of some of Horsham’s most popular community events.

“One of the most common topics raised was the current boundaries of Horsham Town Council. A number of North Horsham residents asked why their area is not included within the Town Council boundaries, which highlights the strong interest many people have in how local governance works and how communities are represented.

“I would like to thank everyone who took the time to stop by our stall and share their views.”

Horsham District Council is currently conducting a Community Governance Review, during which residents across the district will get to comment on the current arrangements, including boundaries, of parish and town councils.

Horsham Town Council would like to thank Horsham Rotary Club for organising another successful community event and all those who visited the council’s stand during the day.
