Pet owners in Lewes and the surrounding area will soon be able to access local veterinary care once again, as Lewes Veterinary Centre, formerly known as Pet Doctors Lewes, reopens its doors on Tuesday 15 September.

The practice, which is part of CVS Group and the Seaford Veterinary Centre family, will initially offer veterinary nurse-led clinics and services while plans are developed to expand the site into a fully operational veterinary practice.
Located just a short walk from Lewes town centre, the purpose-built facility features two consulting rooms, an in-house laboratory, separate dog and cat wards, a theatre, preparation area and ultrasound equipment.
Practice Director Summer Mainstone said the decision to reopen the practice was driven by local demand.
"Our clients have spoken and we've listened. Lewes Veterinary Centre has always been a much-loved practice and we've continued to hear from pet owners who would like to see services return to Lewes.
"We're delighted to be reopening the site and look forward to welcoming both existing and new clients through the doors once again."
The centre will initially be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am until 2pm, with a registered veterinary nurse based on site to provide a range of clinics and services, including senior pet health checks, puppy advice, nutrition consultations, weight management support, blood pressure monitoring and preventative healthcare appointments.
The reopening marks the first stage of a longer-term plan to grow the practice and expand veterinary services for local pet owners.
Summer added: "We are taking a phased approach so that we can build services sustainably and ensure we continue to deliver the high standards of care our clients expect.
"Our ambition is to develop Lewes Veterinary Centre into a thriving local practice with its own dedicated veterinary and nursing team. We hope to recruit additional colleagues over the coming year as the practice grows."
While the practice has not been open to clients in recent years, the site has continued to support the profession behind the scenes as a training facility for future veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses.
Existing Seaford Veterinary Centre clients from Lewes and the surrounding villages will be able to access services locally once again, while the practice will also welcome new clients looking for veterinary care closer to home.
From 15th September, pet owners can contact Lewes Veterinary Centre or visit the practice website for appointments and further information. Prior to this date, owners can contact Seaford Veterinary Centre to book advance appointments at Lewes Veterinary Centre.
