A local vet is bringing the independent practice she helps lead to the East Hoathly community she has called home for more than 25 years.

The expansion marks an exciting new chapter for the long-established local practice and has a particularly personal connection for Partner Kirsty Turrell, who has lived in East Hoathly since 1999.
Fairfield House has grown from a team of just three vets in its early days to 10 today, with increasing demand for its services leaving its Uckfield practice particularly busy.
When the opportunity arose to take on an existing veterinary premises in East Hoathly, just a few miles from Uckfield and within easy reach of Heathfield, Hailsham and Ringmer, the team saw a natural opportunity to grow while remaining firmly rooted in the local area.
The new practice will provide more appointment availability and give clients the flexibility to choose between Uckfield and East Hoathly, while continuing to see the same Fairfield House team. Patient records will be available at both locations, helping to maintain the continuity and personal care the practice prides itself on.
For Kirsty, the expansion is about more than simply opening another location.
Kirsty said: “Having lived in East Hoathly since 1999, it feels particularly special to be bringing Fairfield House to a community that I know so well. We’re very proud to be an independent practice and to have grown while staying true to the personal approach and continuity of care that are so important to us.
“The new practice gives our clients more choice and greater convenience, while still being looked after by the same team they know and trust. We want it to become a real part of the village – a calm and welcoming place for both animals and their owners.”
Remaining independent is central to Fairfield House and the way it provides veterinary care. Its own vets provide an in-house out-of-hours service for registered clients at its Uckfield premises, meaning pets can continue to receive care from the practice and team that know them.
The East Hoathly practice will initially focus on consultations, with dedicated cat-only clinics also planned. These will give feline patients dedicated appointment times without having to share the waiting room with dogs, helping to create the calmer experience Fairfield House wants the new practice to offer.
The purpose-built premises also offer ample parking, addressing a challenge the team knows only too well from its busy Uckfield location.
Fairfield House will collect the keys to its new practice at the beginning of October, when preparations will get underway. The first appointments are expected towards the end of the month, ahead of the practice becoming fully established in early November.
And this is just the beginning. As the East Hoathly practice grows, Fairfield House hopes to expand the services available, introduce surgical facilities and create new local employment opportunities.
New client registrations are already welcome, with pet owners able to register online or call Fairfield House Veterinary Surgery on 01825 764268.
The new branch will be located at Fairfield House Veterinary Surgery, London Road, East Hoathly, Lewes, BN8 6QA.
