Lynchmere Cricket Club need a new heavy roller for their pitch before the start of 2027 season following a recent on-site fire which destroyed their old roller.
The club who have played village cricket in their corner of West Sussex on their scenic ground for over 200 years have therefore started a crowd-funding campaign in the area to help fund the purchase of a new roller.
"How the fire started and took hold remains a mystery," said club Chairman Doug Thow, "but with the 2026 season now ended the search is on for a new roller.
"With the likely cost of replacement in excess of £5,000 well beyond the club's resources, we hope that the local community would be able to help aid support by participating in our crowd-funding appeal on https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/new-roller-for-lynchmere-cricket-club ".
