What started as an idea has quickly grown into something very special!

In 2025, Holly Smith, Head of Women’s Football at Ringmer AFC, approached Tania Gemmoni about getting a women’s walking football team up and running. Tania was appointed Head Coach, with Zena Hamdon as Assistant Coach.

The first session took place on 12 June 2026, and the team now trains every Monday, 7–8pm.
In just a few months, the group has grown to almost three teams, with women travelling from across Sussex to take part. Some players have never played football before, but everyone supports and encourages each other, creating an incredible group of ladies.

They’ve already enjoyed their first tournament, entering Blues & Yellows at the Newhaven Autumn Shield, and there are plenty more exciting plans ahead including a tournament in Mallorca in April!

The future is looking very bright for women’s walking football at Ringmer AFC!
