Amazing Dark Skies Event in Ninfield, Friday 9th October. | Sami Guard

On 9th October we are organising a programme of activities, some delivered by external groups but others that you can enjoy just in your back garden. Activities include a Bat Walk led by CPRE, East Sussex Astronomical Society setting up their telescopes for you to view the night sky and a presentation on Astrophotography by Tom Cheshire. We will be asking residents to complete a star count. Not all of the stars - just those within the square of Pegasus, and how many moths you see. The main event though will be to ask everyone to turn off outside lights and close their curtains between 8 and 9pm, then stand outside and enjoy the sky over Ninfield.

We will post information on the programme of events and locations as soon as they are finalised, so please watch out on the Community Page, Village Voice and village notice boards. If you would like to help out on the night or maybe organise a group event in your street, please contact me on 07707683187 or [email protected]

HOOE & NINFIELD OPEN GROUP: We met last Friday 11th September this time without a speaker. ‘Please not a quiz I heard cry!!’ however, we did but with a difference! Peter Hayward and his computer provided clips of music, from different genres and we had to guess the group, singer or composer. No prizes apart from a share in a box of Celebrations but one table was outstanding and nearly managed to get every one right. Judging by the chatting and laughter I think a good time was had by all. Cake and a cup of tea to follow!!! We have a speaker lined up for next time!
