A recruitment agency based in Polegate, East Sussex, has launched a free online CV checker to help job seekers across Sussex and the South East find out why their applications may not be reaching employers.
Bernoullis Group, a UK recruitment agency that places permanent, contract and temporary staff in engineering, construction, healthcare, manufacturing, energy, IT and logistics, built the tool after seeing how many strong candidates were being filtered out before a person ever read their CV.
Research by job site Ladders found recruiters spend an average of just 7.4 seconds on a first look at a CV, and many employers now use applicant tracking software to screen applications automatically.
How the free CV checker works
Job seekers upload their CV as a PDF or Word document and can add the job advert they are applying for. In about a minute, the checker gives a score out of 100, broken down into five areas:
how easily screening software can read the CV
how well it matches the keywords in the job advert
whether it shows results rather than just listing duties
layout and structure
clarity
It then lists the fixes that matter most, the keywords that are missing and a report the user can save. The free CV check needs no card and no account; users just enter an email address to receive their report.
Engineering jobs in the South East
The agency's own job feed tracked 350 engineering jobs in the South East over the six weeks to 5 November 2026, with a median advertised salary of £47,500. Demand is strong across aerospace, defence, energy and advanced manufacturing, from Portsmouth and Southampton to Crawley, Brighton and Newhaven.
As well as the CV checker, Bernoullis Group offers employers a free consultation and site visit, vetted shortlists and check-ins at 30, 60 and 90 days after each placement.
