Mortain Place care home in Eastbourne created a traditional pop up pub night, The Mortain Arms, to celebrate bonfire night including a competitive pub quiz, a selection of bar snacks on each table, a display of virtual fireworks as well as a show of music sung by Steve Dunnett to end the night.

Staff and residents at the home were involved in creating The Mortain Arms pop up pub which consisted of homemade beer mats, a show of tables with snacks and drinks and a hand painted pub sign to welcome all to the evening of celebrations.

General Manager, Catherine Brewster, at Mortain Place, thought it was a perfect occasion to celebrate an evening steeped in traditional pub fashion as well as getting involved with the quiz questions at the beginning of the night.
She said: “Bonfire Night is always a fantastic event at Mortain Place Care Home, it’s so important to continue these traditions. Our residents enjoyed the variation of pub snacks insisting of scampi fries and pork scratchings along with our pub quiz and evening entertainment including a 3-course dinner served at their table by our fabulous chef, Mia.

Janet, resident of Mortain Place said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the quiz night, it took me back to my earlier days when I worked behind a bar. The thought behind the pop-up pub was amazing, what a brilliant night.”
