Shoreham Bowling Club are closing in on the final month of the 2026 outdoor season. The season certainly seems to have flown by for them during the hottest UK summer on record.
There was another good performance and result for the club in the Brodie League at home against their good friends from Lancing BC.
Although Shoreham's chances of winning the league are now very slim, they have enjoyed another great season in the Brodie and have played 15 matches, won 11, lost only 3 and one no result.
In the Lancing match, Shoreham won on three rinks and were beaten on the other rink, so the club picked up an 8-2 victory. Bowling in their winning rinks were, Jenny Hughes, Brenda Page and Skip. Dave Page in one triple; Suzie Warley and Skip, Roy Webb in the Pairs game; Marion Hoggen, Dave Hoggen and Skip, Wayne Brown in the other triple.
A couple of days later, the club enjoyed a great afternoon of bowls in their friendly at home to The Drive from Hove. Shoreham won on four rinks and were beaten on the other rink. The final score was 100-57 to Shoreham and bowling in their top rink were Steve Fuller, Barbara Velardo and Alan Heselden.
After the outdoor season finishes on October 3, many of Shoreham's bowlers will play in weekly indoor friendly matches against other local indoor and outdoor clubs.
These matches will take place throughout the autumn and winter months. The majority of these matches will be played at Adur Indoor Bowling Club in Southwick.
