TG JONES CLOSING

Post Office Closureplaceholder image
Post Office Closure | Uckfield Chamber of commerce

On Monday 27 July, we first heard the news about TG Jones planning to close their store at 33 High Street, which also houses the Uckfield Post Office. Upon hearing the news, we contacted Cash Access UK, as we were led to believe that both Post Office and banking services would be provided within the new permanent Uckfield Banking Hub when it opens at 15 High Street. Cash Access UK has advised that the Post Office will operate the counter service in a Banking Hub but will provide only banking services, not postal services. There will be no break in banking services, as the Temporary Banking Hub at 79 High Street will remain operational until the permanent hub opens. The Town Clerk informed the town’s local MP Mims Davies, who, from her latest correspondence, has advised that she will pursue the matter. The Town Clerk will also write to the Post Office to understand their current position and plans for the provision of postal services within Uckfield Town Centre.

EAST SUSSEX ANIMAL RESCUE WRAS

We are celebrating the first anniversary of our Operations Director, Harriet Leppard. Over the past 12 months, Harriet has made a significant contribution to WRAS by helping to streamline processes, support the development of our staff and their roles, and ease the operational workload carried by our founder, Trevor Weeks. As the charity continues to grow—and the demands, responsibilities and risks involved in our work increase—having experienced and capable staff like Harriet makes a tremendous difference. Her support helps our wider team focus on what they do best: rescuing, treating and caring for thousands of wildlife casualties every year. Thank you, Harriet, for all your hard work, dedication and support over the past year. We are incredibly grateful to have you as part of the WRAS team.

UCKFIELD TOWN MAYOR at HOLY CROSS CHURCH - KAREN BLACKWELL

What a fantastic evening at Holy Cross Church listening to the Uckfield Soul Survivors Choir. Congratulations to everyone involved on celebrating five years since the choir was founded by the incredibly talented Ginger Millington Director of Music, and Tim Guntrip - pianist, organist and choirmaster at Holy Cross Church.  The concert was a mix of contemporary and pop music, beautifully arranged by Ginger and favourites of the choir over the last 5 years. Uckfield Soul Survivors Choir has created a welcoming community where people of all ages and abilities can come together to sing, build confidence, support their wellbeing, and enjoy the positive impact music has on mental health. The concert showcased some truly amazing soloists, and every member of the choir performed with passion, energy, and enthusiasm enjoyed by so many in the audience. If you've ever thought about joining a choir, they rehearse every Monday at 6.30 pm at Holy Cross Church, Uckfield, and new members are always welcome. There are no auditions—just a friendly pay-as-you-go fee of £5 per session. We are so fortunate to have such incredible talent and community spirit here in Uckfield.
