Nine seaside artists welcome you to their studios

Artists near the seaside invite you to their Open Studios in Felpham and Flansham (PO22) and Bilsham (BN18) to view their completed Art and to see work in progress.

Why not enjoy a day out following the Open Studio’s Art Trail. Nine Artists close to each other are exhibiting work for you to savour. Discover friendly faces giving you time to look, feel and question the provenance of their art. Studios are easily accessible from the A259 and A2259.

You will find Gill Hunter Nudds in Bilsham, her studio yards off the A259. See her delightful, original, hand-built ceramics depicting wildlife such as hares, foxes, deer; these are garden or indoor sculptures.

Find Susie Olford exhibiting oil and acrylic paintings at Flansham, in a charming, light filled barn, easy courtyard parking, wheelchair access. Flansham is a hidden hamlet in West Sussex and a turning off the A259. There is space to walk around colourful, contemporary art. Emphasis is on vibrant seascapes; but landscapes feature too. She has designed humorous wine-related cards, popular with wine loving friends and family.

Why not see more studios? In Felpham village (from the A2259) you will find seven more artists. Try Peter Hutton and his world of vintage vehicles including buses and motorcycles. Peter also has charming pen and ink drawings of Sussex buildings. Or Hilary Frame a well-known local watercolourist.

An artist with a different talent is Nick Crimmen, animator, illustrator, and cartoonist. Eye-catching, conversation pieces that will make you smile. No one else on the Trail has work like Nick’s. He makes cartoon characters come alive through digital art. He also depicts local scenes in a simple, colourful form.

There is art varying from pen and ink, to oil, acrylic, digital art, watercolour and pastels. Topics for all: Floral and Botanical, Sussex Buildings and Landscapes, Seascapes, Vintage Vehicles, and more. Most artists have greeting cards from their original ideas.

www.chichesteropenstudios.org has full details of artists and maps. Colour brochures are available from venues and libraries.

The brochure gives all the information you need to reach Open Studios from Bilsham to Chichester, and into some beautiful Downs Villages.

Dates: May 25, 26 and 27. Open 10.30am to 5pm.
