Arts in Heathcare at Bexhill Hospital

ON a cold and wet February afternoon a choir of ten from St Leonards lit up the Irvine Unit at Bexhill Hospital with some bright and joyful singing, lifting the hearts of patients, staff and visitors alike.

The singers were Friends Unlimited, led by Helen Bird. Their opening song from Mary Poppins was followed by Gary Barlow’s Sing. The audience was taken on a unusual ride through the London Underground with Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Undergound, to be followed by the gentle music of G.M. Summer’s Fields of God. A huge round of applause greeted Paul Goring and Pat Horwill who performed Baby It’s Cold Outside. The performance was rounded off with a medley of the Beatles.
