Ben and Katie Jones have opened Jones Coffee Co. at 28 Chapel Road - servicing coffee sourced from the ‘finest growers’ of South America and Asia and ‘chosen it for its taste and its traceability from farm to cup’.

Ben said: “We moved to Worthing about two years ago, in the height of the pandemic.

“We had visited the town a year prior to that and really liked the area.

“We really liked the vibe in Worthing.

“It’s a lovely area and seems like a very supportive community.”

Ben said he is confident the West Sussex seaside town will give the independent business the best chance to thrive.

“It seems there’s a real focus on independent businesses here,” he said.

“So that really appealed to us.

“The business has been in development for a number of years.

“We were going to set it up a few years ago in London but decided it wasn’t right.

“Worthing was the ideal place.

“After hunting for appropriate properties, this one popped up on Chapel Road and we thought it was a really good spot.”

Ben, who has worked in cafes for up to two years in London, said him and Katie have been ‘mostly driven’ from their passion in the coffee industry.

They will both primarily work behind the scenes at the shop in Worthing, having employed a ‘really great’ staffing team of six people to serve customers.

Ben added: “We really wanted to provide a welcoming, friendly space for people to pop in and visit.

“We’ve both used coffee shops an awful lot and they can add a lot to a community.

“We are providing a speciality coffee, by working with a great roastery and we want to be as ethical as possible in terms of the quality of our products.

“We are working with a local bakery who is providing all our sweet treats, cakes and pastries. The sandwiches are homemade.

“Our goal is to be the best coffee shop in Worthing and beyond.”

The café is now officially open for business after its launch day on Saturday (July 9).
