Hall & Woodhouse confirm plans for 2026 charity day initiative in Sussex

Hall & Woodhouse (H&W) has pledged to donate 70 per cent of net food sales from across its Managed House estate to charity.

Funds raised on H&W’s charity day, on Friday, November 6, will see donations going to each pub’s local charity partner and H&W’s selected national charity, Make-A-Wish UK.

More than 150 H&W team members from across the south voted for this year’s chosen national charity.

Each H&W Managed House in Sussex – including The World’s End in Patching, The Black Rabbit in Arundel, The Black Swan in Pease Pottage, and The Gardeners Arms in Ardingly – will split its donation between its chosen charity partner and Make-A-Wish UK.

Local chosen charity partners include Home-Start Arun, Worthing & Adur, St Catherine’s Hospice, and Sussex Search & Rescue.

The pub teams will also host fundraising activities to support charity day such as raffles and pub quizzes.

Giuseppe Bergamasco, co-head of charity at Hall & Woodhouse, said: “Charity day returns to our houses for the fifth year running. Following the previous success of the initiative, we’re proudly moving the event to one of our busiest days of the week, Friday.

“We’re confident that we’ll be donating and raising more money than ever before, contributing essential funds to a range of very worthy causes.”

Craig Low, co-head of charity at Hall & Woodhouse, added: “Making people’s day and supporting our communities sits at the heart of everything we do at Hall & Woodhouse.

“We encourage our guests to support their local charities and Make-A-Wish UK by choosing to dine at their nearest Hall & Woodhouse pub on Friday, November 6.

“Our hope is that we welcome as many people as possible through our doors, with the aim of raising a significant amount of money for such deserving charities.”

Make-A-Wish UK creates life-changing wishes for children living with critical illnesses, bringing joy, hope and unforgettable experiences to young people and their families during some of the toughest times imaginable.

Angharad Punton, corporate partnerships executive at Make-A-Wish, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the support of Hall & Woodhouse. It’s thanks to this kind of dedication and generosity, that we’re able to reach more families and create lasting memories for critically ill children, whether a child has decades ahead of them or precious little time.

“The fundraising activity that will be held on charity day 2026 will help us grant more life-changing wishes for critically ill children and give families the chance to create precious memories together when they need it most.”

Charity day is a crucial part of Hall & Woodhouse’s wider charitable activity. The initiative contributes to the business donating and raising £1 million per annum for local good causes.

H&W will announce the total funds raised on charity day 2026 by the end of November.
