HMV looks set for administration one year after opening new Brighton store

Music retailer HMV, which opened a Brighton store last year, is expected to appoint administrators in the coming days.

The retailer has 130 shops, including a branch in Churchill Square Shopping Centre, Brighton.

Brighton's hmv made a return to the city in October 2017 after its previous store in the shopping centre closed in January 2017, with 'increasing costs' to blame.

Today (December 28), Sky News revealed that HMV has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.

The music retailer employs 2,200 staff.

The company also filed for administration in 2013, but it was saved by its current owner, Hilco.

Auditor KPMG is expected to be appointed as administrator of HMV in the coming days.
