Raymond Warren visited Collyer’s for a lively TV style session with 50 students, focusing on his career journey, his work in local government in the south east and time spent helping with the John Kerry presidential election campaign.

Lucy Hargreaves, Collyer’s employability programme co-ordinator, said: “It was so inspiring to hear about Raymond’s drive, determination and focus on what’s been important to him on his career path.

“Our students really enjoyed the lively question and answer and loved hearing his witty anecdotes about working on the campaign trail. It was so kind of Raymond to give up so much of his valuable time.”

Collyer’s deputy principal, Steve Martell, hosted the session. He said: “Raymond’s energy and positivity is infectious; his journey from his east midlands upbringing, to working in government and US presidential political campaigns, to his life now as an artist of high renown, should be a movie!

Lucy Hargreaves added: “We were all truly inspired and everybody loved hearing Raymond’s story.”

Raymond told the students: “I’ve been really impressed with your keenness and your questions. You are so lucky to have the chance to attend this outstanding college.”
