A Village Bonfire will be held tonight, Friday, November 8, at Ashburnham Sports Field in aid of Ashburnham and Penhurst New Village Hall Fund. The fire will be lit at 7pm. Admission of £4/adult and £2/child includes local sausages, homemade soup and mulled wine (for adults only!).

On Sunday November 10, Remembrance Sunday, there will be a service at the War Memorial, by the Sports Pavilion starting at 2.30pm. This will be led by Revd John Sykes.

2m@1 are meeting on November 11, 1pm at Ashburnham Church Hall. This month they welcome Paul Wenham and Andy Proudfoot, directors of Ashburnham Place.

MI are next meeting on November 12 at the Ash Tree Inn. For further details of the MI group of merry men, please call Richard on 01424 893130.

Ashburnham and Penhurst WI are next meeting on Monday November 18, Dr Peter Josling will be coming to talk about the medicinal, culinary, and general properties of garlic. All meetings are at 7.30pm in the Village Hall and include refreshments and time for chat. Visitors and new members are always welcome.

The next Village Lunch is on November 20, at Ashburnham Village Hall. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in our villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. The East Sussex County Council Mobile Library service will next be in Ashburnham (by the chapel) on Thursday November 21, 9.50am - 10.10am.

The Afternoon Book Group for November meets Friday, November 22 at 2pm. This months book is “The Little Stranger” by Sarah Walters. It’s the sinister story of the Ares family and their doctor, set in a crumbling Georgian house in rural Warwickshire in the post war years. Ashburnham Chapel are holding a coffee morning on November 25, 10am-12pm. All are welcome to join them.

The Ashburnham and Penhurst Gardening Club are meeting on November 25 at
