Bexhill Scottish Society Burns Night

It's their big night out - members of Bexhill and District Scottish Society know how to celebrate 250 years of the Baird.

A traditional Burns night dinner was held at the Masonic Hall on East Ascent in St Leonards with guests welcomed by piper Ian White.

The event was attended by Bexhill Town Mayor Councillor Patrick Douart and the Mayoress Maureen Douart, Society president Jim Winter plus members and their invited guests.

The celebrations started with the haggis being piped in and the traditional address given by John Black, MC for the evening.

The all-important toast to the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns was given by Keith Murray, and the other toasts were to The Toon We Bide In and A Toast To The Lassies.

After dinner there was Scottish country dancing and to close the occasion a rendition of Auld Lang Syne.

The Society is 60 years old this year and in the process of recruiting new members.

You are welcome to attend a Tuesday evening session at St Stephen's Church Hall, Down Road, from 8-10pm to find out more, or contact secretary Pat Noble on 01424 425961 for more information.
