I am told by the head of bonfire for the Castle Inn, Ken Blanch that the big event will take place in the Castle Inn, Bodiam garden on the November 15. More news soon.

I hope Bodiam has taken advantage of the Stagecoach 349 Sunday service that stops on October 6. Hope we have the service next year but did cost a lot of money to run.

Our primary school welcomed a large amount of new pupils this September and I hope all have settled in well. The school has a number of open mornings for reception 2014 - October 21, November 11, November 25 from 9.30-11am. No need to phone just pop in and meet the children and staff.

Bodiam had two good harvest services at St Giles. The primary school gave lots of gifts to the OAPs in Bodiam how I am sure were very happy to have them. And at the St Giles harvest service it was also good to see a few little people. The next service at St Giles is Holy Communion on October 20 at 11.15am and Gordon the Vicar will take the service.

Kirsty the young grand daughter of Phyllis Landels of Levetts Lane did a sponsored skydive for the charity Friary Gardeners based a Ore Place Farm in Hastings, which provides support occupation and education to adults with learning difficulties and disabilities in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Kirsty made over £400 for this very worthwhile charity.

Vera Sims has died after a very brave fight with cancer. Vera was a good friend to me and a good friend to have in an organisation like the school, Levetts Lane Residents Association and the parish council. Vera did not sit on her backside and let others do the work and sometimes very few others did. She did it herself. You do not get a lot of human kindness from many in today’s world, but you did from Vera. It is not fair, but life is not fair. Bodiam will not forget her. She will be sadly missed. Condolences to Tracey and Laurence and the family.
