BREAKING: Woman rescued from A27 crash

A WOMAN was freed from her overturned car by passers-by on the A27 shortly after 7am this morning.

A Vauxhall Vectra overturned and caught fire after it collided with the central reservation 500 yards after exiting the Southwick Tunnel heading eastbound.

Passers-by managed to free the woman driver, who at this stage is not thought to have been seriously hurt.

The eastbound carriageway of the A27 is now open after being closed and traffic diversions set up while emergency services deal with the incident.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash or anyone who saw the car being driven prior to the collision. They are asked to phone Sussex Police on 101, quoting 316 of 1/11, or e-mail: [email protected]
