Car collides with building in Eastbourne

Emergency services were called to an incident involving two cars in Eastbourne.

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service was called to the incident in Tideswell Road at 2.55pm on Monday (October 4).

A spokesperson for the service said, “Firefighters from Eastbourne and Lewes attended together with our Technical Rescue Unit.

“On arrival, firefighters found that one car had hit a building and the other car had hit a wall.

“One person was handed over to the care of South East Coast Ambulance.”

Eye witness Jamie Roberts said he saw a grey car hit the barrier and crash into the wall.

Jamie said he ‘rushed over’ to the car and found a man and a woman inside.

He said, “We asked if they were okay, which they said they were, so we got them out the smokey car.”

Jamie said he turned off the ignition, moved the car out of the way of traffic, and the emergency services were called.
