Chichester bishop leading pilgrimage to Middle East

THE BISHOP of Chichester, Dr Martin Warner, will be leading a pilgrimage to the Middle East in November next year.

The eight-day pilgrimage will include the areas of Galilee, Bethlehem and Jerusalem in an attempt to raise peacemaking efforts in the region. Dr Warner, who became Bishop of Chichester last year, is an experienced leader of Holy Land pilgrimages and is looking forward to parishes from all over the region joining in this experience.

“The pilgrimage is open to all and I really hope that people from different parishes will join us. This gives us, as a diocese, the chance to explore the life of Jesus where it happened to meet contemporary Christians in the Holy Land,” said Dr Warner.

“The situation between Israel and the Palestinians dominates the news headlines, but you really have to be there to experience the uniqueness of this land,”

Pilgrims will visit the main holy sites and spend time in prayer.

The pilgrimage will take place from November 20-28, 2014.
