Christopher Hall offers Pizazz as the life and soul of the party in Brighton!

Brighton Komedia

As comedian and all-round showman Christopher Hall says, the news is bleak and showing no signs of improving.

And that's partly why he wants to offer the perfect alternative, a show you will leave feeling lighter, feeling like you've been in the company of friends and having had a really good laugh.

Christopher brings Pizazz to Brighton Komedia on Wednesday, October 28.

“There are some fabulous shows about quite serious matters or comedy born from trauma or sadness but I try to make myself a jester and offer everybody an hour of escapism from quite a grey world. I'm really excited to be taking this on tour and seeing different audiences.”

Christopher took the show to Edinburgh in the summer: “It went really well. I had great sales and great audiences, and I've had a lot of returning audiences from over the years. It was my fifth Edinburgh, and I heard lots of people saying that they'd been to multiple shows of mine in the past. It's just a really fun show though that sounds like a very small word for it. But the idea is that I put a smile on people's faces and that they just feel lighter when they walk out.

“What I wanted to do is just keep it really light-hearted. I always get feedback that the audiences feel like they've been with a group of friends catching up, like a group of friends reminiscing. They are all personal stories but just really about being the life and the soul of the party which is what I always want to be. It is talking about some of my experiences but even if you haven't experienced those things yourself, I just keep them very relatable. I just want it to be a really joyful outing for people.”

Christopher started stand-up after lockdown: “In my previous job I was a dancer and a musical theatre performer and a choreographer. I'd always wanted to try stand-up but by the time I was getting itchy feet about musical theatre I just thought I was too far gone in this and that I had gone too far down one path to change jobs. But then Covid came along and took away all my jobs as a self-employed creative and took them away multiple times. So I started doing this and now this has gone far better than the musical theatre ever did. I am loving it.”

And he is loving the touring: “The overriding emotion is great fun. I love travelling both in the UK and abroad and to be able to work and to perform and travel is really, really special. I always get lots of inspiration from my audience. No one has to get up on stage but I do a lot of audience work and just weave it into the show.”

A show in which he is, as he says, the life and soul of the party: “The show has gone through a few iterations but it's about my personality and an invitation to an event with someone who's larger than life and will give you a great time!”
