A man has been given a 16-year prison sentence for attacking a woman at his address in Ferring, causing her serious knife injuries. Kenneth Noble, 69, retired, of Beehive Lane, Ferring, was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on Wednesday 29 June, having previously pleaded guilty to the assault on the 64-year-old woman, who was known to him, on 27 September last year. He was also given a Restraining Order, prohibiting him from any further contact with the victim for life. The prosecution, authorised by the CPS, followed an investigation by officers from the West Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit. The incident was confined to the flat, and there was no risk to the wider community.

A Hastings man who refused to accept his partner's decision that their 11-year relationship was over, and entered her bedroom during the night after phoning her 54 times, has been sent to prison for stalking her, following a Sussex Police investigation. Paul Kehoe, 42, now of Wilmington Square, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates Court on 28 June to stalking without violence, but only on the morning the trial was due to start. He was given a 14-week prison sentence and a two-year Restraining Order prohibiting him from contacting his ex-partner and from being in Hastings or St Leonards. On 14 May Kehoe entered the St Leonards flat of his ex-partner twice, uninvited, in the early hours of the morning and later on the same morning. Three teenagers have been sentenced for their part in a violent assault which left a Worthing father with life-changing injuries. Alan Willson, 47, was attacked by three boys in Longcroft Park around 7.30pm on Easter Sunday (April 4) 2021. He suffered such catastrophic brain injuries that even now, more than a year later, he is still unable to talk. Three boys, aged 13, 14 and 17 at the time, were arrested and charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. All three denied the offence. On Thursday 12 May, after a 14-day trial at Hove Crown Court, the 14- and 16-year-old boys were found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent by a unanimous jury. Sentencing took place at the same court on Thursday (June 30). Following an application submitted by members of the media, a court order previously restricting the identities of the two younger defendants from being published was lifted by the judge.
