UPDATE: 999 service in Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill areas restored
BT has advised Sussex Police that the problems that affected 999 callers in the Mid Sussex area earlier today (Wednesday October 16) have now been resolved and the 999 service is now running normally.
The problem affected Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Bolney, Scaynes Hill and Wivelsfield Green.
As a result Sussex Police increased patrol activity in these areas and had recommended that if anyone had an emergency they use a mobile telephone, which was unaffected.
