A person has died after being hit by a train in Southwick, British Transport Police has confirmed.
A BTP spokesperson said: “We were called to an area of the line close to Southwick station at 2.15pm today (September 17) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Officers attended, along with paramedics, but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Southern Rail said trains are unable to run between Worthing and Brighton.
Disruption is expected until 5pm.
A Southern Rail spokesperson said: “We're very sorry to advise that a person has been hit by a train between Brighton and Worthing.
“To allow the emergency services to safely deal with the incident, all lines are closed.
“As a result, trains are unable to run between these stations and will be cancelled in full, revised to terminate and start from different stations on their route, or will be held until the lines have reopened.”
“If you are travelling through this area, it is likely you will need to use an alternative route to complete your journey. This may take at least 60 minutes longer than usual so please allow extra time.”
