The police have issued a statement after a lorry overturned on the A23.

The emergency services were called to a ‘single-vehicle collision’ – involving an overturned lorry – on Mill Road, Brighton.

The incident was reported at the London Road roundabout on Monday, July 13 at around 3.05pm.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “A 48-year-old man was treated at the scene for minor injuries, and no arrests were made.

“A temporary road closure was in place in Mill Road, and on the London Road roundabout at the exits for the north and southbound carriageways of the A23 while the road was cleared.

“Officers are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry in an ongoing investigation and encourage anyone who has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to report it to us online or by calling 101 quoting serial 990 of 13/07.”

Dramatic images showed the aftermath of the incident, with a lorry spilling its load across the road.

An ambulance and police cars could also be seen at the scene, between Pyecombe and Brighton.

South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed it was called to ‘reports of a road traffic collision involving a lorry’. It was reported shortly before 3.10pm.

A spokesperson added: “An ambulance crew attended and one patient was assessed and treated at the scene before being discharged from our care.”

Traffic monitoring service AA Traffic News reported the northbound carriageway was partially blocked following the collision, with queueing traffic around the roundabout.
