Exploring the wonderful world of science

THE children of Hurst Green Church of England Primary School enjoyed a spectacular Science Day recently.

The children worked in House Groups, meaning that each of the four groups contained a mixture of ages from Reception to Year 6 working together.

The children had lots of fun exploring and erupting volcanoes, investigating a range of classroom-based experiments, building scarecrows and subterranean gardens, and, finally, investigating their very own crime scene.

As well as the day being great fun, the children were able to develop their ability to work in unfamiliar groups and settings, and hone their investigative skills.

Headteacher Graham White said: “Our House and Subject Days allow the children to work collaboratively.

“They also allow us to explore subjects in greater depth and learn about other places and cultures.

“The children and staff love these days and always work incredibly hard to complete the tasks and share the learning.

“We are very lucky to have such well-behaved and curious children, as well as creative and inspirational teachers.”
