Fundraising supermarket sweep cleans up for charity

A DASH from store to store by one shop worker from Littlehampton has raised a decent sum of cash for a worthy cause in Climping.

Paul Wood, 29, took part in a novel ‘supermarket sweep’ across several Co-operative stores. He walked a seven-mile route across Wick, Rustington, Durrington and Worthing, raising about £200 for Crossroads Care South Central, part of the Carers Trust network.

Paul, who works for the Co-op and completed his awareness drive across the sites in just over four hours, said: “I was keen to do something different to raise awareness and money for the Carers Trust.

“My manager Mr Villiers asked the team for ideas and I came up with a walk to include several stores. He then asked me to do it.”

Eric Geddes and Carol Yeend, from Crossroads Care and ambassadors for the Carers Trust joined Paul as he set along his course from Wick. Carol said: “It takes individuals like Paul to embark on these challenges to really make a difference.”

Carers Trust works to improve support, services and recognition for anyone living with the challenges of caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems.
