High school's end of term report

BEXHILL High School is moving in the right direction but it needs to keep issues under constant review.

That’s the Easter message from the school’s principal Mike Conn at the end of term and a “busy and challenging” time.

He stressed any problems should be dealt with at the earliest opportunity.

Mr Conn said: “We were extremely fortunate in receiving the funding for our new school before the major cutbacks which have affected so many other schools.

“It is now for us to develop our new school in the transformational manner intended when the project started.

“Many things have happened on this first part of the journey and we continue to make progress towards our vision. Clearly there are many issues to overcome and we have planned to deal with those during the next few months.”

Mr Conn felt communication is a key issue and something the school has now addressed.

There is a new communications officer, Tracey Holden, who is available to parents and carers, via phone or email, from 9am-3pm weekdays.

Another step has been the introduction of the weekly newsletter which is reaching a wide audience every week.

Mr Conn also said he realises the challenge of a longer school day is still proving difficult for some, and the governors will shortly publish their post-OFSTED report action plan.
