Icklesham

Laurie Bowman, Magpies, Oast House Farm

Sunday 10 November 10.30 Icklesham’s Remembrance Service in our Parish Church of All Saints with St. Nicolas. The local Five Villages Branch of the Royal British Legion will be here this year. The Branch has its Service in one of the 5 local villages each year. (this is not to be confused with the Five Villages House). Wreaths and poppy crosses will be laid. After the Service, the congregation will proceed to the Memorial Hall where a wreath will be placed before the wooden Memorial which is the oldest Memorial in the village. Coffee will then be served. The Service ,as ever, will include prayers for Peace as well as for all those who have and are suffering because of human conflict. Next year the start of the First world war will be emphasised but remember sadly that in the 74 years since 1939 there has only been one year when a British serviceman has not been lost.

Most households have a free Rye Fixtures delivered and in November’s is the Icklesham Eye - the Icklesham Parish Council newsletter. Some of the items concern Winchelsea, Winchelsea Beach and Rye Harbour. This Village Voice has covered several items which are mentioned. However there are 3 things which your council would like feedback on. A new bus shelter on Main Road just past the turning into Goldhurst Green. The Streetgames Summer Sessions on the Recreation Ground..A no cold caller zone to deter those who come to your doorstep soliciting services or goods and sometimes trying to buy things. Winchelsea already has a zone with notices in the ward. If you have views on these 3 issues or on anything else contact either a parish councillor or the Parish Clerk Mrs Anna Evett 07714169901 [email protected]
