23 November 2010 Jade’s Hair Salon opened and in 2 years the number of clients has increased so much that a new stylist is now involved. She is Alice Castell from Rye. She trained in Tonbridge and has wide experience including Rush in Tunbridge Wells. So bookings are going to be easier for Ladies and Gentlemen. Yes 30% of the clients are male.

A week today a murder will take place in the Memorial Hall and a member of Icklesham Players is known to be guilty – but which one?

Friday 7 December 7.30 A Murder Mystery Dinner is an evening with a difference. Tickets are £10 for a two course dinner with canapes and a glass of wine. The Players would like teams of 4 or 6 people However you can book singly or in pairs and will be put into teams with other singles or pairs. There will also be a simple quiz and of course the mystery play and a raffle. Tickets are available from Icklesham Stores or by phoning Nicky 01424 812996.

Saturday 8. The December Craft Fair in the Memorial Hall 10am – 3pm with a great selection of local arts and rafts,suitable for gift ideas, as well as gift wrap,cards and stationery.Refreshments will be available all day. There will be a raffle with a difference. One ticket will be drawn on each hour throughout the fair to win some Christmas goodies.

Sandra Stunt who runs the fairs says’’ If you have not been before you will be surprised by the quality of the goods for sale, and the talent in our midst. To date the fairs have raised over £700 for Trust Funds. A huge thank you to everyone who has helped and supported me over the last year. I could not have done it without you.’’

The next day Sunday 9 December the Craft Fair moves up the road to Harborough Nurseries at Guestling Thorn for a 10am to 4pm session.Donations will be for St. Michael’s Hospice. Fresh Christmas trees will be on

sale and here will be Christmas refreshments throughout the day.

On Sunday 16 the Fair will be in Guesting Thorn.

Icklesham Trust Committee would like to invite you to heir A.G.M. to be held in the Memorial Hall on Tuesday 11 December. Wine and nibbles will be provided from 7pm. This is your opportunity to meet with the committee who look after the Hall and Pavilion throughout the year. The committee is made up of one representative of each of the village groups plus three village reps. We meet usually once a month and have a sub-committee who organise the fete and flower show.

The Trust committee has an exciting future ahead with the proposed new sports pavilion being high on the agenda. We would welcome any fund raising ideas. We hope that you will able to join you on the night.

Last Saturday’s Quiz was in aid of the Macmillan Nurses and Icklesham’s new pavilion. The hosts were the Ladies Darts team. 12 teams entered and £320 was raised which will be shared between the Nurse and the pavilion. The winning team were Empty Heads closely followed by Stalybridge Celtic, 30 Somethings’,Casualties, Table in the Corner and Nobbies Nuts. Thanks to Hannah and Phil and everybody who gave support.

The next Quiz Night is 12 January 2013 and will be raising funds for the Horticultural Society.

The New Pavilion lottery draw took place. The Reverend Hugh Moseley drew out the winning tickets. Peter Drew won £25, Mick Leech £15 and Keith Sellens £10. The next target is to have 150 members, This would give a prize fund of £75 a month. Please tell your friends. There are forms in the Parish Magazine and information is on display in Icklesham Village Store.

All my life I’ve followed football, reading all the results etc and some of the readers of this voice must be the same. You will be interested to here about Eddie Marney ‘s son Dean. Dean is an attacking midfielder who is 28 and has been in the game all his adult life. Eddie of Pear Tree Field can give you all the details. Last Saturday Dean scored the only goal for Burnley against his previous club Hull City. He started his career at Spurs and then had loan spells at Swindon, Q.P.R.,Gillingham and Norwich City. He was with ‘’The Tigers’’ for 4 seasons and has been with ‘’The Clarets’’ since 2010.

23 November The Friends of Icklesham School AGM elected its officers; Chair Therese Croft. Treasurer Tatiana Russell. Secretary Jane Murray.

Plans are well underway for the Friends’ Christmas Fayre on Friday 7 December from 3.00 pm at the School.

Many activities have been arranged for you to enjoy including mulled wine,excellent cakes,superb tombola,craft stalls etc. You can also visit Santa in his magical grotto. Children and parents will be singing Christmas songs. Raffle tickets are available in the School and Icklesham Village Store.
