Mrs. Pat Buckland asks me to pass on to you all the information about a Fun Quiz Night to be held in the Village Hall on Friday 1st November at 7 for 7.30 pm. Teams of 6 are to pit their wits against each other, with Mr. John Harrison in charge as Quiz Master. You will need to bring your own cutlery, condiments, drink and glasses, and fish and chips will be supplied. Booking is ESSENTIAL on 280 589 please. The proceeds are in aid of the Iden Goat Sanctuary. But of course they do not only care for goats; there are horses, dogs, and sheep and they are cared for life.

The cost is £7.50.

Next Friday, 25th October, the Iden and District Natural History Society continues its Winter Lectures with Mr. David Lang speaking about “Lewes to Land’s End.” The meeting begins at 7.30 pm. You will be made very welcome. Visitors to lectures are asked to pay £3, the annual subscription is £12.

If you would like to support the Link to Hope shoebox appeal this year, please pick up a leaflet from the back of the church. The gifts are sent to very poor families and elderly people living alone in Romania, Moldova, Albania, Bulgaria and the Ukraine. They live in terrible conditions in shanty towns and even in disused containers, often with no electricity or running water. The gifts are everyday items such as soap, toothpaste, shampoo, combs, socks, crayons and colouring books.

Shoeboxes must be delivered to church by Sunday 27th October. If you have any questions or problems, please contact Mrs. Sue Cavilla on 230 431.

The mid-week services continue on Wednesday at 9.30 am for Morning Prayer and 3.30 pm for Evening Prayer, led by the Vicar, Rev Teresa Munro.

The 9.30 am service for 21st Sunday after Trinity will be Parish Communion.
