Jake Ratcliffe, of Chaucer Avenue, is one of only a handful of photographers to be shortlisted for the NME Music Photography Awards, this year.

The 20-year-old University of Portsmouth student – who first picked up a camera three years ago – said this was a ‘life-changing moment’ for him.

Jake, who studied at The Littlehampton Academy, said: “This is a massive moment for me. The opportunities it might create for me could be life-changing.

“I never expected that picture editors from NME would be looking at my photos and thinking that they’re good enough to be in the shortlist.”

Jake, who will find out whether he has won the competition, later this month, has also been entered into the readers’ choice awards. Currently, two of his pictures are in the top-20 of the amateur category, with one being pipped to the top spot by one other music photographer. “It’s a great achievement,” he added.
