Legion holds first meeting of new start

MEMBERS of the Bognor Regis branch of the Royal British Legion have been asked to attend its annual meeting.

This will take place for the first time at the Prince of Wales pub on Highfield Road on November 19.

The branch has been kept alive by a small group of dedicated members after the Legion’s club on Clifton Road closed last autumn.

Branch secretary Mel Penberthy said: “Even though the club has ceased, the branch members who attended last November’s annual general meeting formed a branch committee to carry on the name of the Bognor branch.

“This branch was one of the first branches formed in the Legion. The aims of the Legion are still at the forefront of any decisions made.”

The meeting place of the pub arose because many
ex-service personnel drink there and the licensee agreed it could be used.
