Cllr Burgess joined members of the Royal British Legion in County Mall where he chatted with residents who stopped at the stall on the ground floor outside Boots to buy their poppies.

The wreath, when full, will be placed on the war memorial at St John’s Church, High Street, during the Remembrance service on Sunday November 10.

Among those who stopped by to pick up a poppy was Jay Baldwin, who lost both of his legs to a bomb blast while serving in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in February 2012.
