Motorists are being asked to respect the occasion and refrain from passing the War Memorial during the silence.

Chris Thomas-Atkin, Town Mayor said: “I hope as many people as possible will be able to give 2 minutes silence in remembrance of those who gave everything”.

A spokesman for the Royal British Legion said:“We are pleased to be joining forces with the Town Council again this year to mark 11/11/11. Any ex-service men or women who would like to take part are very welcome to join us”.

As part of the commemoration a plaque will be unveiled remembering animals who were killed in war.
