New homes water crisis

Water security was not allowed for when thousands of new homes were planned for West Sussex and other parts of the South East, a Lords committee revealed this week.

Infrastructure plans for reservoirs and cleaning plants should have been put in place at least ten years ago, it said.

John Prescott's former department came under strong criticism from the Lords science and technology committee on Monday for failing to consider water management early enough when imposing the new build figures on the county.
