Did you find us at the Big Nibble? Come and join us pressing the surplus apples that have been collected from around the village. Bring your surplus apples (if you have some) along to the hopper by the RSCC from 28th September until 5pm on Saturday 12th October. WE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING APPLES ON APPLE DAY ITSELF. This will enable you to park in the designated field in Lynwick Street and walk the short distance to the playing fields on the day. Parking at the Village hall will be restricted to stall holders and disabled badge holders only. If you have dropped off apples during the preceding fortnight please come to the ORCS stand to find out how to redeem some Apple Juice (which freezes well – bring your own containers) or some 2012 cider. Apple juice will also be available for sale. During Apple Day, apart from the pressing itself, there will be plenty of stalls to enjoy with apple and other rural themes eg., Spinning, Hedge laying, Pottery, Wood-turning, Owls, Pigs, West Sussex Rangers & their Nature quiz, Hanging baskets, Toffee apples, Apple Tombola, WI cakes, locally made cheese “Sussex Charmer”, local Firebird brewery, chutneys, jams and other comestibles, plus a Raffle, Morris Dancing and Terrier Racing (please bring your Terriers). There will also be (messy!) apple games, face painting and races for children. Our 2012 vintage “Old Chopper”, “Strumpet” and “The Doctor” Ciders will be on sale (strictly over 18 only - ID will be requested) as well as our limited edition “Vinegar Witch” Cider vinegar – an excellent Christmas present! The Social Club will be open for refreshments and a Hog Roast with apple sauce! Rudgwick Lottery Tickets are also for sale on the day or in advance from Peter Gooch ([email protected] – 1st Prize cash £500.

So drop off your surplus apples before the day and on 13th October bring the family, and some containers to take away juice, and have a fun and informative day in Rudgwick, knowing that your surplus apples have been put to good use. In the past 4 years we have donated over £4000, to local Youth projects and Sports, Rudgwick Book Exchange, CHASE and Chestnut Tree House Childrens’ Hospices and bought 5 defibrillators for our village. We look forward to seeing you.
