Mary Hitchins, 2 the Old Hop Gardens

Another traffic accident at the east end of the village this week has raised again the question of traffic calming and the problems caused by water from the stream flowing across the road in these very wet conditions. The signs put up by the police and a public-spirited resident (?) (Thank you!) should slow some of the speeding drivers, but the general consensus is that we urgently need a permanent warning sign there.

Once again can we appeal to users of the pavilion to turn off the outside lights when they leave. Lights left on all night are using too much power and must be an irritation to neighbours.

The Parish Council has commissioned a new fingerpost for the junction of Church Lane and Dew Lane and is disappointed that although the contractor claims it has been made and has been ready to erect for over a month now, it is still not in place.

Progress on the Memorial Hall continues to be good, despite some delays due to the cold and wet conditions (affecting not the builders but the materials). The Parish Council continues to meet at Flackley Ash Hotel on the first Tuesday of the month and is grateful to the management for their generosity. As usual members of the public are welcome to attend. As the hall is unlikely to be ready for the Annual Parish Assembly it is planned to hold this at the pavilion on May 29.

A reminder that The Oliver Curd Trust is holding it’s Annual General Meeting on Friday February 22, 2013 at Peasmarsh Pavilion (near recreation ground, The Maltings) at 7pm; all friends & supporters old and new are welcome.
