Alexandra Arts Centre in Bognor moves closer to Spring 2027 opening
Bognor Regis’s Alexandra Arts Centre is nearing completion ahead of its planned Spring 2027 opening, according to Arun District Council.
In an update Arun District Council, the authority stated that by mid-October, brickwork had been completed up to first-lift level, giving a clearer impression of the building’s finished appearance and its presence on the seafront.
A spokesperson for Arun District Council said: “Installation has also begun on the distinctive decorative feature banding that will frame sections of the façade. These carefully designed architectural details will become one of the building's defining features, adding character and visual interest from both the street and surrounding public spaces.
“On the roof, the mechanical plant installation has been completed, marking an important milestone in the delivery of the building's heating, ventilation and air-handling systems.
“Decoration and painting are progressing across multiple areas inside, with spaces beginning to reveal their final character. Joinery works are also underway, with skirting boards and window boards being installed throughout the building and templates prepared for bespoke handrails and balustrades. These finishing touches, while often less visible than structural works, play a vital role in shaping the quality and feel of the finished interiors.”
The council spokesperson also confirmed work internally would also continue through the Christmas period.
They added: “Looking ahead to Christmas, activity will remain focused on the internal fit-out while the final elements of the external programme are completed.
"Work will continue on the feature banding and remaining façade details, alongside further installation of theatre lighting and audio-visual equipment.
"Mechanical and electrical systems will continue to be commissioned, while plastering, decoration, joinery, ceiling installation and flooring works progress throughout the building.
"The fabrication and installation of final bespoke elements, including handrails and balustrades, will also continue over the coming months.
"Each week brings the finished venue more clearly into view, and the team remains on track as preparations continue for the planned Spring 2027 opening.”
