Uefa Conference League: Jablonec vs Brighton and Hove Albion from the Stadion Střelnice - Thursday, 5.45pm

Jablonec boss Lubos Kozel feels Brighton should be playing Champions League football this season.

The Seagulls are in the Czech Republic this evening to take on Czech top flight outfit Jablonec at the Stadion Střelnice.

Brighton finished eighth in the Premier League last term to qualify for Europe's third tier competition.

But Fabian Hurzeler's team have excelled this term and are third in the top flight ahead of this Sunday's trip to Liverpool.

The Seagulls are also the division's top scorers with 23 goals from seven league matches.

Brighton are Champions League level

Kozel, speaking ahead of the Conference League clash with Brighton, said: “We will meet a team that currently has performances that could be in the Champions League.

“It will be a great celebration and experience for our club. Brighton may be the strongest opponent ever to play here but we also want to contribute to the level of the match.

“We will have to come out with a good defence and defend well, and take advantage of the opponent’s weaker moments.”

What channel and kick-off time

The Seagulls kick-off the second match of the Conference League league phase in the Czech Republic at the Stadion Střelnice on Thursday, October 22 at 5.45pm.

The match will be broadcast live on TNT Sport 2 and is also available to stream via a HBO Max sport pass.

Brighton’s predicted XI

Hurzeler will likely make a number of changes to the starting XI that thrashed old rivals Crystal Palace at the Amex Stadium last Sunday. The head coach also has to manage the squad’s energy levels at they are at Liverpool this Sunday.

Brighton’s likely XI vs Jablonec: Steele, Costinha, Vuskovic, Svoboda, Hadjam; Gross, Andres; O’Riley, Yalcouye, Osman; Georginio.

Jablonec beat Rangers and Freiburg

Hurzeler said: “We are in a good place, the players look very sharp and we are all looking forward to the game.

“Jablonec has quality; they beat Glasgow Rangers here and played a really good game against Freiburg last week.

“There is no reason to speak about miracles or underestimate them. We have to focus on ourselves and play at the highest level to give ourselves a good chance to win. The game is not won before we play it.”
