Bexhill care home wins award for being pet-friendly

A Bexhill care home has won an award.

Elizabeth Court Rest Home, in Hastings Road, won the Pet Friendly Care Home Award 2026.

The home said it allows residents moving into the facility to bring their pets with them.

Annie Parker, who manages the home, said: “Pets are a big part of our lives, and it’s heartbreaking when we have to give them up. Our home allows residents to bring their pets with them so they can remain together.

“At the moment, we have three dogs - Gizmo, Poppy and Pringle - and one cat named Tash.”

Martin Ballard, who looks after the animals and ensures they are all fed and watered, said: “As soon as you enter the front door, you’re greeted with lots of wagging tails and happy dogs.

“Not only do their owners benefit from having them around, the whole home does too. They bring so much joy to everyone.”

Elizabeth Court Rest home provides residential care for older people with a range of needs, including those living with dementia, other mental health difficulties, learning disabilities and physical health conditions.
