'Fantastic' Dotto train season along Eastbourne seafront comes to an end

Dotto, the popular seafront tourist train, travelled its last course two days ago (September 13) as the season has come to an end.

An announcement from Stagecoach, which operates the train, revealed that the season came to an end just after the close of the summer holidays.

A Stagecoach spokesperson said: “We’ve had a fantastic Dotto season in Eastbourne, welcoming lots of local people and visitors of all ages on board and receiving plenty of positive feedback."

Last year the company extended the Dotto season until October as a trial. This year Stagecoach decided to end the season in the second week of September after taking several factors into account.

The Stagecoach spokesperson added: “Our experience has shown that demand typically reduces once schools return in September, while cooler and wetter weather can also have an impact.

We carefully consider demand and operating conditions when planning our seasonal services. Last year, we extended the Dotto season into October as a trial, having previously operated through to the end of September."

The train is enjoyed by people of all ages as they can hop on and off between Sovereign Harbour and Holywell Retreat.

No booking is required, and tickets can be purchased directly from the conductor on the train.
