Plans for extension at Eastbourne pub revised despite previous approval

Plans for an extension at a pub in Eastbourne have been revised despite an earlier proposal being approved.

Eastbourne Borough Council granted planning permission for the erection of a rear extension at The Pilot Inn in July this year.

But a new application has been submitted by Mr Simon Jewell seeking to erect a “slightly deeper” extension.

The new proposal would aim to increase the number of place settings in the Meads Street pub from 28 to 32 covers.

Planning consultants Lewis & Co, on behalf of Mr Jewell, said the increase would “make the scheme more financially viable, as well as contribute to the pub's long term future”.

They added that while the amendments were “very minor”, a new application was submitted “for the avoidance of doubt”.
