St Peter & St James Hospice has announced that Shine Bright will return this autumn to raise money for charity.

The 5K illuminated walk around Lindfield is set to raise funds for the hospice and for its palliative care services on Saturday, October 5.

The colourful community event, full of enchanting light displays, is also for people to celebrate the memory of loved ones.

A St Peter & St James Hospice spokesperson said: “With just 13 per cent of the hospice’s overall funding coming from central government, St Peter & St James Hospice relies on the generosity of the community, to raise the £6 million needed each year to deliver their services to thousands of people throughout our community, who are living with life-limiting conditions.”

Sophie, who took part in the walk in 2023, said: “I took part in Shine Bright, in memory of my Dad. I wanted to remember him, surrounded by people feeling in a similar way. It was a magical, vibrant, colourful night. My friends and I were dancing, enjoying the music and colourful performers as we walked —Dad would have loved it.”

This year’s event is funded by sponsors including Jackson-Stops, NFU Mutual, Colemans Solicitors, HSBC, Mike Oliver Associates, and The Orchards Shopping Centre.

Toby Wittome of Jackson-Stops, said: “Many of us over our lives will end up coming into contact with the St Peter & St James Hospice in one way or another. Those of us who have will never ever be able to thank them enough for looking after our loved ones in the way that they do, at this most important of times.”
