More than 15 kilogrammes of plastic and rubbish removed from local beaches
The Strandliners ecology group have collected more than 15 kilogrammes of rubbish from beaches at Hastings, Bexhill and Pett Level this year.
Volunteers took part in the sessions as part of the Great British Beach Clean for the Marine Conservation Society.

The clean-up also involved a survey of what washes up on our beaches. The detailed litter data recorded by citizen scientists can drive vital ocean conservation campaigns and policy changes at local and national levels.
Some of the unusual items found in our surveys included a sweet packet from Taiwan, a complete Bal^Ban egg (like a Kinder egg) from a 2007 container spill, and a message in a bottle from an Irish ferry.
The Beachwatch team at Marine Conservation Society would like to say a huge thank you to the 4,126 volunteers who picked up a litter picker and got involved across the ten-day Great British Beach Clean. Across 386 beach cleans and inland litter picks, a massive 2,231 kg of litter was removed around the UK and Channel Islands.
