Repair work on 'dangerous' Bexhill pavement to be carried out

Repair work will be carried out on a 'dangerous' pavement in Bexhill following calls from a town councillor.

East Sussex Highways said the work will take place in Beeching Road.

A start date for the repairs has yet to be announced.

The section of pavement has been closed off to pedestrians with barriers erected around it.

Cllr John Lee, Bexhill town councillor for St Stephen's ward, said the pavement's state had been a 'bugbear' for residents for months and had been responsible for 'many trips, falls, sprained ankles, and scooters tipping over'.

He added: “I had it closed off because of the dangerous nature of the pavement and after a business owner brought it to my attention."

An East Sussex Highways spokesperson said: “We are in the process of planning work on this section of pavement in Beeching Road and will share details once confirmed.

“The section of pavement remains closed to ensure the safety of pedestrians and we apologise for any inconvenience this causes.”
